In the digital age, designers are in demand when it comes to careers in marketing and visual communication, digital media production, social media management, product design, web design and user experience / user interface . Module 3

If you have a high level of performance skills you may be considered for a lower academic offer. Our BA Music with Arts Development degree offers you a course with a practical focus. You will develop your performance skills in singing and playing, alongside studying fundraising and the third sector as you broaden your knowledge of music and its many contexts. Whichever you choose, we’ll challenge you to come up with imaginative solutions to creative briefs, and encourage you to explore the theory behind your practice.

This cross-disciplinary programme is the first of its kind in Scotland, and RCS is the only UK conservatoire to offer a Master of Arts postgraduate degree in this rapidly growing area. It has been developed as a part-time, online blended learning programme to enable students from across the globe to study alongside professional commitments. Festivals, events and projects

This provides an introduction to the work of key bands and practitioners in popular music to provide a broad overview of the development of popular music and of the contexts that enable it to be understood and assessed. Small class sizes provide highly personalised levels of supervision and support. This will enable you to develop your own specialist practice you need for working within this dynamic sector. Develop an expertise in a business relevant to your musical interest and discover opportunities for industry based internships and graduate placements. Whether it be high-end digital or retro analogue, you will be able to produce and create a diverse range of professional sound recordings. You will explore the opportunities for enhanced communication within the formal performance context and use your own physical projection of self and personal narrative of intention.

Music & Creative Arts Experiences

You will be taught by a core team of experienced and highly qualified tutors alongside a wide-ranging team of more than 60 specialist instrumental and vocal teachers. You will work on your technical development and expressive facility in performance in a bespoke way with regular one to one tuition. We pride ourselves in helping you to form an excellent working relationship with your one to one tutor, which will enable you to identify areas for development, understand your specialist discipline with mindful awareness.

This option is a largely independent academic research module resulting in the production of a large scale written piece. You will be supported by an academic supervisor through tutorial sessions throughout the year. In this module lectures and seminars will be dedicated to aspects of popular music research such as musicology, audience studies, performance studies, and/or cultural studies. You will work toward the submission of a focused piece of work examining a specific area of music. This module aims to introduce you to market research, branding, and use of video. The module utilises industry standard software to produce relevant promotional material for the popular musician.
